Two years since the band released their EP Seven Inches of Satanic Panic in 2019, Ghost is back with their new original "Hunter's Moon" written for the soundtrack of Halloween Kills, the upcoming film adding to the Halloween movie franchise.

Although this is the first original single the band has released since 2019, Ghost has recently been "hyping" fans up for new content over the past two weeks. Beginning with a tour announcement, Ghost told fans on Monday, September 20, with a Twitter post that the band would be touring with the rock band Volbeat in the United States beginning in January. Fans had little time to process the news as tickets then went on sale that Friday, September 24, and even sooner with exclusive presales that began Tuesday, September 21.

Following the tour announcement, Ghost then added more to the buzz with a sudden and cryptic live stream that began on the band's official Youtube channel. The live stream featured a continuous loop of a video showing a city skyline and the band's "grucifix" symbol projected and moving into the night sky. After 24 hours, a two-second clip of a girl drowning was added that played every ten minutes to interrupt the video loop. Each day at noon EST, going on for three days, a clip was added at different points that would interrupt the video loop. These featured more obscure clips, similar to the first one. After three days the "Hunter's Moon" music video was released along with the song on music streaming platforms and the live stream ended shortly after. After watching the music video, it becomes clear that the mysterious clips were short previews of scenes that occur in the video.

So far, fan reception of the song and video has been immensely positive. The music video currently has 1.6 million views on youtube after about two weeks. The film version of the song is also playing at the end of Halloween Kills, which is out in theaters now.

You can listen to "Hunter's Moon" now on Spotify, Apple Music and Youtube.
