Recognize the lyrics? Those are from the My Chemical Romance song Volcano Shake Em Up, an unreleased song written for the band's fourth studio album Danger Days: The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys.

However, there is something very unique and special about this song. It does not exist, and it never has.

What started a joke on Tumblr, first posted on September 21, 2022, by user girlblocker, has recently spurred My Chemical Romance fans into a creative storm. Fans have been designing album art, making edits, writing lyrics and even mixing music for a song that was never real.

girlblocker's original post read " every mcr concert i see live-blogged one of my mutuals posts like ‘oh my god they played their song volcano shake em up, which was performed once in the vault of a secret bank in western nevada in 2010 and then recorded on a disk which has been buried for a decade and only now are we getting to hear it again’ ".

This post came as a parody to comments made by My Chemical Romance fans during the band's current reunion tour that has been running in North America and previously happened overseas in Europe. At many concerts during the tour, the American rock band has pulled songs from their discography that have either never been played before, or have only ever been played a handful of times for a live audience. Many of these songs that have not been played for a long time were played at the beginning of the band's career when they were featured at small venues.

Each show throughout the entire tour has a unique set of songs that keeps fans on their toes for what could be played. Songs played range from iconic songs by the band, such as I'm Not Okay (I Promise), to lesser known and older songs like Demolition Lovers. As deep-cut songs start to appear on the set, fans run to social media sites like Tumblr or Twitter, to express their excitement and joy to hear these beloved songs being played for a live audience. Often the song has not even finished being played by the time a post about it pops up online.

So the post is poking some playful fun at this, how did we get to lyrics and YouTube videos?

girlblocker's post suddenly went viral after being put up on Tumblr. It spread through Tumblr's platform first, then quickly made its way onto Twitter, Instagram and even TikTok. While many fans knew this was a joke, so many posts started to be made that treated the song as a real thing that even long-time die-hard My Chem fans had to think back and try to remember if there really was an unreleased song called Volcano Shake Em Up.

Although Volcano Shake Em Up does not exist in any hidden files that the My Chem members have, fans are making sure that it becomes a reality one way or another. Over the past few weeks, fans have been doing everything to fabricate a song that gives off the energy that a song titled "Volcano Shake Em Up" would have, along with the vibes of Danger Days, the album it was "supposed to be on". Just a quick search of the song will show all the different websites that have lyrics posted or uploads of artwork fans have made that is anywhere from hand-drawn art to mixes of pictures featuring the band, the Danger Days album cover, lyrics and almost always a volcano erupting.

As of now, there is no word if the band has found out about Volcano Shake Em Up. However, as Tumblr user jerseymuppet pointed out in their post, the band very often fans out about jokes fans make.

Could we see My Chemical Romance play a song called Volcano Shake Em Up in the future? Or will this remain a fun little joke that brought out tons of creativity in My Chem's fanbase? With only a few shows left in their tour, fans should eagerly await and see what happens.
