Originally set to be released in July of 2020, Ghostbusters: Afterlife is finally on its way to movie theaters. Although the new release date is for November 19, 2021, the movie has been prescreened as a surprise to create hype with audiences at CinemaCon and now New York Comic Con.

At the NYCC event, attendees had to be pre-registered ahead of time to attend an event. The event description when people registered was that the event was a discussion of the movie with a panel of special guests. What the audience did not expect was for almost the entire main cast to appear on the panel stage, along with director Jason Reitman and producer Ivan Reitman. At the conclusion of the panel, Jason Reitman surprised everyone further by announcing that instead of showing everyone scenes from the movie, they were seeing the entire movie. Before the lights went out and the movie began, Reitman left the audience with one request, keep the ending a secret!

Following the end of the event, it is no doubt that the screening created a buzz amongst fans and those who attended. As someone who attended the event, I know that others are eager to learn more about the movie and even more excited to see it themselves. Right after the event and over the days after, I had been asked by friends and family what I thought of the movie and if the hype is worth it.

I will keep to Jason Reitman's request and not say anything, but I will say that the hype is definitely worth it.

Longtime fans who grew up with the movie will not be disappointed and new fans will love the younger and new continuation of this classic franchise. Make sure to get tickets! You do not want to miss Ghostbusters: Afterlife when it hits theaters in November!
