After almost nine months of being dark, Broadway shows are back in New York City and performing for audiences filling the theaters! The first show to open its theater doors again was the musical Waitress and Hadestown on September 2, followed by other iconic shows like Hamilton, The Lion King and more (People).
Broadway has put in place COVID-19 guidelines and regulations for audiences, crew and performers following New York State and New York City guidelines. These include proof vaccination and masks required at all shows for audiences. For children under 12 years old and those unable to get the vaccine due to medical or religious reasons, a PCR test must be taken within 72 hours of the performance start time, or a negative COVID-19 antigen test taken within six hours of the performance start time (Broadway.org).
Despite these guidlines, shows have been selling out
